GT: Galati takes Speedvision GT Pole at Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nev.--Michael Galati, of North Olmstead, Ohio, took his second Speedvision World Challenge GT pole of the season at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for Sunday's race, part of the Grand Prix of Las Vegas Presented by EnjoyTheRide.com. Mike Fitzgerald, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Terry Borcheller, of Phoenix, Ariz., completed the top-three.

Driving the No. 9 Champion Audi S4 Competition, Galati turned a fastest lap of 1:24.117 (96.294 mph) to take his second pole of the season and the 13th of his career.

"We knew we had a good setup on the car and the cool weather is good turbo weather," said Galati, who also earned the pole at Lime Rock Park. "I did a fast lap early and let the tires cool. I was a little ticked off about Laguna Seca, when I lost the pole right at the end of the session. I got out at the end and chased Terry [Borcheller]; he gave me a good tow. This track has an interesting mix of fast and slow corners. It's gonna be a good race."

Going for his fourth-straight win, Fitzgerald set the second-fastest time in the No. 38 Westward Ho Hotel Vegas/MPIE Porsche 911 GT3 Cup with a lap of 1:24.266 (96.124 mph). Borcheller set his fastest lap as he gave Galati a tow with his No. 52 AASCO Performance Saleen SR, turning a 1:24.469 (95.893 mph).

Point leader Jeff McMillin, of Erie, Pa., and Boris Said, of Carlsbad, Calif., completed the top-five.
