TOURING: Fitzgerald, Turner top Las Vegas Speedvision World Challenge practice

LAS VEGAS, Nev.--Mike Fitzgerald, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Will Turner, of Newburyport, Mass., topped Friday's practice sessions for this weekend's Speedvision World Challenge GT and Touring Car Round Nine races, respectively.

Fitzgerald, driving the No. 38 Westward Ho Hotel Vegas/MPIE Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, set the fastest time in the afternoon Speedvision GT session with a lap of 1:24.847 (95.465 mph). Fitzgerald is going for a record-tying fourth-straight win.

Completing the top-five in GT were Michael Galati, in the Champion Audi S4, Boris Said, in the AER/Bob McGraw Racing Ford Mustang, Terry Borcheller, in the AASCO Performance Saleen SR, and Bobby Archer's Viper Speed Dodge Viper GTS.

Turner, driving the No. 92 Turner Motorsport/H&R Springs BMW 328is, set the fastest time in Speedvision Touring Car, with a 1:31.530 (88.495 mph).

Fitzgerald was second fastest in his Pure Image/TC Kline Racing BMW 328Ci, followed by Hugh Plumb's BuySellorHold.com/RealTime Racing Acura Integra R, Alfred duPont's European Racing Technologies BMW 328is and Neal Sapp's TC Kline Racing/Pro Parts BMW 328Ci.

Qualifying for both races is Saturday morning, with the Speedvision Touring Car race starting at 3:35 p.m. (Pacific). The Speedvision GT Championship will race Sunday.
