NASCAR WCUP: Burton and Crew Both Looking For Wins This Weekend at Rockingham

"There is something about Rockingham that fits with my style of driving. It takes a certain finesse to get around there without killing your tires. That is one thing that a lot of drivers have a hard time getting used to. The track is so abrasive that when you've been on a long run, you've lost all traction. You have to learn how to drive the track and save your tires for when they matter most - the end." -Ward Burton

BALDWIN ON THE ROCK

"We certainly are ready to get back to Rockingham," said Tom Baldwin, crew chief of the No. 22 Caterpillar Racing Pontiac. "We had this race won last year, but we just barely got beat off pit road and that proved costly for us. We'll have the same car that raced here in the spring and won at Darlington.

"We are on the final stretch of races for the season and all the tracks remaining are tracks that Ward does real well at. We have set our eyes on getting ninth position in the points back from Jeff Gordon and we still want that second win of the season. We think we still have a very good chance of getting that win and it could very well come at Rockingham this weekend."

Ward Burton departed from Talladega Superspeedway and flew to New Mexico, where he participated in an Elk Hunt. The Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation teamed up with the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and auctioned off a three-day elk hunt with Burton. The proceeds from the auction will benefit the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

The No. 22 Caterpillar Racing pit crew has been hard at work for the past few weeks. They've been polishing their duties on the pit crew. This year marks the 34th Annual Union 76/Rockingham World Pit Crew Competition, which will take place on Saturday. The winner will receive $25,000 and bragging rights for an entire year. "All year, the pit crew does an outstanding job and winning this event allows them to enjoy the limelight," said Tom Baldwin, Jr., crew chief and rear-tire changer for the Caterpillar Racing team.
