HICKORY, N.C.- "Roll Tide," a familiar chant to University of Alabama football fans, will be heard throughout Talladega Superspeedway's grandstands this weekend as driver Scott Pruett's No. 32 Tide Ford debuts its "Crimson Tide" paint scheme in honor of the university's beloved football team. The special tribute car, fielded for Tide Racing by PPI Motorsports, is entered in this weekend's Winston 500 NASCAR Winston Cup Series event in Talladega, Ala.

In addition to displaying the Crimson Tide colors and elephant mascot on the No. 32 "Crimson Tide" Ford at Talladega, Tide is sponsoring all Tide 'Bama Blast weekend activities at the University leading up to Saturday's (Oct. 14) college football game between Alabama and Ole Miss.

Included among Tide 'Bama Blast activities is a $5,000 Tide scholarship opportunity for full-time University of Alabama students. Students may register to win the financial aid scholarship via official entry boxes, which will be located next to the No. 32 Crimson Tide show car at both Friday's (Oct. 13) Midnight Madness U of A basketball game and on the U of A campus Quad during Saturday's (Oct. 14) pre-game kick-off festivities.

TIDE 'BAMA BLAST TRIVIA

A Good, Clean Game: For years, Tide detergent boxes have been visible in the U of A stadium grandstands as Crimson Tide fans cheered on their home team -- making Tide's involvement a natural fit at the University.

Tide Racing Connection: Tina Maloney, brand manager for Tide at Procter & Gamble's Cincinnati, Ohio, headquarters, is a 1988 University of Alabama graduate. Maloney is heavily involved in supporting both the Tide Racing program and her alma mater, Crimson Tide, and helped bring the two "Tides" together for this weekend's activities.
