INDIANAPOLIS- Indy Racing Northern Light Series
veteran Davey Hamilton will drive for Treadway/Hubbard Racing for the
entire
13-race 2001 season, team officials announced today.Hamilton, of Las Vegas, has 13 top-five and 22 top-10 finishes in his Northern Light Series career and finished second in the season championship in 1997 and 1998.
"The opportunity to run with Treadway/Hubbard Racing is a great thrill for me," said Hamilton. "Treadways on-track performance speaks for itself, and as a driver, you always look forward to working with the best."
Treadway Racing has been one of the most dominant teams in the Northern Light Series since the series was founded in 1996, with 19 top-five finishes and five wins, including the 1997 Indianapolis 500 with Arie Luyendyk as driver.
Treadway Racing and Hubbard Racing announced in early September that they were combining efforts for the 2001 Northern Light Series season under the Treadway/Hubbard Racing banner. Hubbard Racing has prepared cars for driver Tyce Carlson this season, earning a best finish of eighth at Las Vegas.
"We are very excited to have Davey for the 2001 season," said Scott Cronk, Treadway Racing vice president. "His ability and professionalism on and off the track make him a perfect fit for our overall goal of running a multi-car championship effort, which provides positive impact for the team, the league and our corporate partners."
Hamilton is the only driver to have competed in all 42 Northern Light Series events conducted to date.
