Huntington Beach, CA -Winston Cup and Craftsman Truck
Series driver, Boris Said rejoins the BFGoodrich Tires Trans-Am Series in
#
33 ACS/Sun Microsystems Ford Mustang. The ACS Express Racing Team is
putting the finishing touches on the newly constructed # 33 Ford Mustang
Cobra for its debut at the Global Center Sports Car Championships on
October
15 at the Laguna Seca Raceway."I'm excited about being in a front-line Trans-Am car. The points won't really be an issue for me as a driver but it will be a lot of fun to be out there in the action as the season winds down" stated Boris Said. In two appearances in 2000, Said qualified on the front row at Sebring International Raceway and led the field at Texas Motor Speedway before mechanical problems disabled the car.
A veteran on race tracks around the world, Boris Said is licensed in several different series including NASCAR Winston Cup, Busch Series, Craftsman Truck Series, American Le Mans Series, and has competed in two 24 Hours of Le Mans races. In his thirty three Trans-Am Series appearances, Said has posted one Victory, three Pole Positions, eighteen Fast Five Qualifying Appearances from which he finished on the podium three times and has acquired 24 top-ten finishes.
Team owner and driver of # 11 Ford Mustang , Mike Davis remarked, "when I started in this series, I did it for the love of racing and my desire to be behind the wheel. I didn't plan to be an owner of a two-car team. Sun Microsystems deserves the exposure of a driver like Boris Said who can run at the front and put us on the podium. I will actually be cheering for a competitor in the line-up to do well. Maybe as he goes by me, I can hook-up on his bumper and he can take me to the podium with him".
Applied Computer Solutions (ACS) is a value added reseller of Sun Microsystems manufactured networks, storage and back-up systems. ACS provides solutions using the products of Oracle, Veritas, Cisco Systems and iplanet together with Sun hardware as California's Premier Systems Integrator. ACS will display the SunRay 220, the latest Sun technology for sponsors, customers and vendors attending the Global Center Sports Car Championships for the debut of the new car and teammate.
Round Ten of the BFGoodrich Tires Trans-Am Series is scheduled for Sunday, October 15 at 3:45 p.m. Tape delayed covered will air on Monday, October 16 at 8:00 p.m. EDT and again that same evening at 12:00 a.m. EDT on October 17, 2000.
