Team to retain association with Hamke Racing

ELKHART, IND. South Bend, Ind., native David Stremme and the ISES Performance Group will return to the American Speed Association ACDelco Series in 2001 and run for Pat Schauer Memorial Rookie of the Year honors.

In terms that are being finalized this weekend at the Winchester 400, the ISES Performance Group plans to run the 2001 season in association with Robert Hamke Racing. Under the new arrangement, the Hamke Racing ASA operation will move its equipment from Moorseville, N.C., to the ISES Racing Group headquarters in Elkhart, Ind. Robert Hamke will remain as crew chief for the team.

Roberts the guy who gave us our shot in this series and we think weve teamed-up for a very successful run these past few months, said Tris Gour, president of the ISES Performance Group. Were very excited about continuing our relationship with him next season.

In July, Stremme and the ISES team ran in its first ASA race after a Hamke Racing Pontiac, which was previously piloted by Phillip Kranefuss, became available. Although that first ASA race at Salem Speedway began inauspiciously for Stremme and ISES (the #27 Pontiac started and finished last in the field), the Stremme/ISES/Hamke arrangement has continued to show progress at each of their following races.

The 23-year-old not only finished his next six outings, but either started or finished each race no lower than 12th. Included in this impressive two-month stretch was a sixth-place finish at the Factory Motor Parts 300 in August at Madison International Speedway, and his first career ASA pole coming in the Memphis 200 at Memphis Motorsports Park. The teams start at the Winchester 400 this weekend will mark their eighth and final ASA race of the season, allowing Stremme to be eligible for Rookie of the Year honors in 2001.

Gour said that the teams pursuit of major sponsorship of the car for the 2001 season will begin immediately.

In running a limited schedule this season, weve been able to make some contacts, learn a little about the series and come up with an appropriate sponsorship plan for next year, said Gour. Once we get back from Winchester, well be able to sort out some opportunities and concentrate on finding a corporate sponsor that is perfect for our long-term goals.

The sponsor of the #27 Pontiac has been Industrial Safety and Environmental Services the parent company of the ISES Performance Group. Industrial Safety and Environmental Services is an environmental compliance consulting firm and the only such organization involved in motorsports sponsorship. The company will remain as an associate sponsor for the team next season.
