INDIANAPOLIS-- The 2001 Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway will take place Sunday, Aug. 5, instead of Saturday, Aug. 4, due to NASCARs television agreement with NBC Sports. NBC Sports is broadcasting 13 Winston Cup races, including the Brickyard 400, during the second half of the 2001 season. The change of the Brickyard 400 date was made official with the release of the 2001 NASCAR Winston Cup Series schedule today.

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway ticket office will notify Brickyard 400 ticket holders of the change.

This will be the first time that the Brickyard 400 has taken place on a Sunday. The race has taken place annually at the Speedway since 1994.
