USAC: Hines 6-for-8 at IRP After Saturday Sprint Car Win

Tracy Hines of New Castle, Ind. completed a clean sweep of this
year's
Stoops Freightliner USAC Sprint Car races at Indianapolis Raceway Park
with
his victory in Saturday night's 30-lapper. It was his sixth victory in the
last eight Sprint car races at the .686-mile paved oval!Hines solidified his third-place ranking in the series standings by passing Ryan Newman on the 17th lap and leading the rest of the way in his GMS Racing/Northside Propane machine to beat Newman, Eric Gordon, J.J. Yeley and Tony Ave.
Hines posted the night's fastest qualifying time but finished behind Yeley and Dave Steele in his heat race. Derek Davidson, Newman and Jimmy McCune also won heats and Gordon won the True Value semi.
Series point leaders Tony Elliott and Jay Drake finished 15th and 16th respectively in the feature and Elliott maintained a 23-point lead over Drake going into the September 29-30 "4-Crown Nationals" at the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. Drake was involved in an accident with Levi Jones during a heat race and borrowed Billy Puterbaugh's car for the 30-lap feature.
