Defending 3-time MCI WorldCom USAC National Midget Car Champion Jason Leffler returned to Indianapolis Raceway Park Saturday night and walked off with his second victory in two IRP starts this season.

Leffler caught Ryan Newman on the 11th lap and led the rest of the way in his Wynn's/Ford/ASE/Beast/Performance Racing Industry machine to win the 30-lapper over Dave Darland, Jay Drake, Kasey Kahne and Newman.

Leffler also posted the fastest qualifying time but trailed Michael Lewis to the checkered flag in his heat race. Darland, Newman and Aaron Fike also won heats and Mark Boice won the semi. Tracy Hines led the opening lap of the feature before yielding to Newman.

Kahne continues to enjoy a healthy point lead over Drake going into the "4-Crown Nationals" September 29-30 at the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg. Ohio.
