North Carolina Driver Will Compete in Remaining Three Events
PENDLETON, Ind.,- Prestige Motor Sports of Michigan has announced that Derrick Gilchrist of Asheville, NC, will drive the #25 MC Sports/Dunlop Golf/Prestige Truck Accessories Pontiac Grand Prix for the final three events of the 2000 ASA ACDelco Series season. This creates a two-car team with veteran Dave Sensiba, a starter in all 17 events this year. The first outing for the new effort will be the ASA 200 at Indianapolis Raceway Park on Sept. 23.
"Im excited about going to three racetracks that I have the potential to run really good at," Gilchrist says. "Maybe we (along with Sensiba) can get things running and win one or more of them. Considering my status with the Busch Series, it may be just two races. Running in ASA keeps my name out there in a great series."
Gilchrist has competed in two events in ASA this season, finishing seventh at Hawkeye Downs Speedway and a sixth at I-70 Speedway. He drove the #4 Automotive Promotions GM Goodwrench Service Plus Pontiac at those races.
"This allows Derrick an opportunity to compete for three events and should improve our overall capability to race with the dual effort," says Rich Morehouse of Prestige. "Depending on how it develops, it may be a preview of next year."
The races still to be contested include Sept. 23 at Indianapolis Raceway Park, October 1 at Winchester Speedway, and October 14 at Gateway Intl Raceway in Madison, Ill.
Derrick Gilchrist is the defending champion of the 200-lap ASA ACDelco Series event at Indianapolis Raceway Park. The ASA 200 is set to begin at 8 p.m. (Central) and will be televised on a two-hour tape-delay basis at 10 p.m. (Central), 11 p.m. (Eastern) on TNN Sports.
