NorthernLight IRL: NorthernLight launches Indy 500 fantasy weekend constest site

INDIANAPOLIS- Northern Light Technology, sponsor of the Indy Racing Northern Light Series, has launched the Northern Light Indy 500 Fantasy Weekend Web site in which fans can enter to win a VIP trip for two to the 2001 Indianapolis 500.

The site can be found at www.northernlight.com/fantasy .

The grand-prize winner of the Indy 500 Fantasy Trip will earn airfare, accommodations and luxury seating for two at the 85th Indianapolis 500 on May 27, 2001. Ten Indy Racing Northern Light Series jackets will be awarded as first prizes, and 500 Indy Racing Northern Light Series hats will be awarded as second prizes.

Fans also can order a free, 1:64-scale die-cast Purex Indy Racing Northern Light Series car at the site. A shipping-and-handling charge of $4.95 will apply. The car is a replica of the Team Purex Dreyer & Reinbold Racing G Force/Infiniti/Firestone driven by Robbie Buhl in the Indy Racing Northern Light Series.

When fans enter the Fantasy Weekend sweepstakes, they are automatically signed up to receive Search Alerts via e-mail on news and information about the Indianapolis 500. Northern Lights Search Alerts are a free service that provides regular updates on topics of interest to users. Each alert is sent via e-mail with a direct link to a Northern Light results list of new information relating to the Indianapolis 500 race.

The Indy 500 Fantasy Weekend contest and die-cast car are part of a nationwide promotion between Northern Light, the Internets leading research engine, and Purex laundry detergent.

More than 3 million boxes of Purex, the number-one value detergent in America, will be delivered to grocery store shelves this month sporting both the offer for the free collectors edition, die-cast Indy Racing car and the chance to win the Indy 500 Fantasy Weekend.

A half-page insert, scheduled to run Sept. 17, 2000, with a circulation of more than 40 million, will appear in newspapers from New England to California and is aimed to support the on-shelf promotion. The insert includes a discount coupon for Purex and information about the free die-cast Purex Indy Racing car and Fantasy Weekend sweepstakes.

The Purex/Northern Light promotion will run from Sept. 1, 2000, through February 2001 with an estimated 70 million impressions expected.

Northern Light also will promote the sweepstakes via an interactive advertising program, scheduled to launch in October, on racing and other Internet Web sites.
