USAC: A.J. Foyt's 'Hulman/Hoosier Hundred' returns to Indiana State Fairgrounds

DEFENDING WINNER SILLS & POINT LEADER TYLER ON THE SPOT

More than 50 entries are expected for the annual A.J. Foyt's True Value "Hulman/Hoosier Hundred" Friday night, September 22, on the 1-mile dirt oval at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, featuring the USAC Coors Light Silver Bullet series.

The race originally was scheduled for May 26 but was postponed due to rain and rescheduled on the new date as a "Salute to the U.S. Grand Prix" September 22-24 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Jimmy Sills, who won last year in the Snider/Foyt entry, will defend his title in Gary Stanton's Mopar Special. Indianapolis 500 veteran J.J. Yeley has replaced Sills and will be a teammate to Ed Carpenter in the Snider/Foyt True Value entries.

Brian Tyler of Parma, Mich. holds a 24-point lead over two-time ISF race winner Dave Darland going into the 100-mile race.

Gates open at 4 pm, practice starts t at 4:30, qualifying gets under way at 6 and the 15-lap "qualifying race" begins at 7. The 30-car "Hulman/Hoosier Hundred: starts at 8.
