  • - Race #23 of Winston Cup Season.
  • - Joe Nemechek goes into Bristol: 18th in points with $1,292,236 in winnings.
  • - Race Length: 500 laps, 266.5 miles
  • - The Bristol Motor Speedway: 0.533-mile concrete oval
Bristol is one of only two NASCAR Winston Cup racetracks that still have two pit roads. There are 21 pit stalls on the front stretch and 21 on the backstretch. One pit stall must be shared.

- Team News: Nemechek and the Oakwood Homes team retained the 18th spot in the points after a somewhat disappointing weekend at Michigan.

Nemechek has had a love/hate relationship with Bristol Motor Speedway in his Winston Cup career. "I like the place if my gar's running good!" he said of the steeply banked short track. After some solid qualifying and race efforts very early in his Cup career, Nemechek's performances have never quite been what he would have liked them to be.

- 1999 Goody's 500 Flashback: Joe Nemechek started the race in 41st position and battled his way into the 19th finishing spot, earning $38,200. Nemechek completed 497 of the 500 laps making up the race.

The #33 Andy Petree Racing Chevrolet driven by Ken Schrader started the Goody's 500 in the 13th position and finished 10th. They completed 499 of the 500 laps and earned $47,005 in prize money.
