Antioch, Tennessee resident Casey Atwood competed
in his final race as teenager in last Saturday's NAPAOnline.com 250 NASCAR
Busch Series race at Michigan Speedway. The driver of the No. 27 Castrol
GTX
Chevrolet Monte Carlo turns the rip old age of 20 on August 25. Atwood's
first race as a twenty-something is Friday's Food City 250 at Bristol
Motor
Speedway. CRASH - BOOM - POW: Casey Atwood's NASCAR Busch Series career at Bristol Motor Speedway has one constant - a wrecked race car. In four starts on the high banked 0.533 mile short-track, the driver of the No. 27 Castrol GTX Chevrolet Monte Carlo has suffered at least one on-track altercation with another car or the wall in each race. Atwood's best finish at Bristol is 15th, twice.
"I don't know what it is about Bristol and me getting the car bent up," said Atwood. "I just can't seem to catch a break. Only once did a wreck knock me out of the race though. I've finished the other three."
Starting up front, twice in the top 10, hasn't helped Atwood in his quest for victory at Bristol.
"I thought by qualifying up front I'd be able to avoid more of the wrecks," said Atwood. "But I guess this is just tough, mean Bristol and no one is immune to it."
Casey Atwood is currently ninth in the NASCAR Busch Series point standings, 88 points behind eighth position.
