LAWRENCEBURG'S "MILBURN CLASSIC" SATURDAY NIGHT

Tony Elliott of Kokomo, Ind. leads the Stoops Freightliner/USAC Sprint Cars into back-to-back races this weekend at Attica, Ohio and Lawrenceburg, Ind. His point lead, though, stands at just three points over runner-up Jay Drake going into Friday night's race at Attica Raceway Park.

Thirty-lap features are on tap at Attica's 1/3-mile dirt track and Lawrenceburg's 1/4-mile dirt track and with 144 points available this weekend these two races could prove pivotal in the chase for the 2000 series championship.

Practice at Attica gets under way at 6:15 pm, with qualifying at 6:45 and racing at 8. The Lawrenceburg race is the "Danny Milburn Classic" and Elliott is the defending race champion. Practice at Lawrenceburg starts at 6, with qualifying slated at 6:30 and racing at 7:30.

Nine of Drake's 14 USAC feature victories so far this season have come in the Stoops Freightliner Series, while Elliott's lone Sprint Car victory came at Rossburg, Ohio in May.
