United States Formula 2000 National Championship point leader
Aaron Justus
of Northport, New York hopes to continue his streak of top finishes when
the
series visits the 11-turn, 3.44-mile Watkins Glen International circuit in
his home state for this weekend's Bosch Sports Car Summerfest activities.
Justus has posted three victories, two seconds, a third, fifth and sixth in eight starts so far to assume a 39-point lead over Canadian Marc-Antoine Camirand going into Saturday and Sunday 14-lap contests at the Glen.
Justus owns victories on ovals at Phoenix International Raceway and Indianapolis Raceway Park but added his first road course triumph July 8 at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisc. The oval wins also placed him in the lead for the USAC "Oval Crown" Championship as well.
Watkins Glen scheduling finds test sessions for the F2000 cars on Wednesday and Thursday before qualifying begins on Friday. A 9:30-10 am session Friday sets the field for Saturday's race, while a 3:35-4:05 pm Friday qualifying session will set the field for Sunday's race. Saturday's 14-lapper gets the green flag at 1:45 pm and Sunday's race starts at 9:30 am.
