SCCA: Heinricy, Dupont lead tight Speedvision World Challenge practice sessions

STE. CROIX, QUEBEC--John Heinricy, of Holly, Mich., and Alfred duPont, of Kennett Square, Pa., led the way in Friday's practice sessions for Sunday's Speedvision World Challenge GT and Touring Car Round Five races at Le Circuit Ste. Croix in Quebec.

Driving the No. 39 Aristeo Construction Chevrolet Corvette C5, Heinricy turned a fastest time of 0:42.156 (93.936 mph) around the 1.1-mile circuit. Peter Cunningham, of W. Bend, Wis., was second, first in the second session, in the RealTime Racing BMW M3 with a lap of 0:42.190 (93.861 mph), followed by Bill Cooper's Les Stanford/Pirate Racing Corvette C5, Bobby Archer's Carrier Management/Viper Speed Dodge Viper GTS and the MTI Racing Corvette C5 of Reese Cox.

DuPont, driving the No. 51 European Technologies BMW 328is, was fastest in both sessions, setting a quick time of 0:44.436 (89.117 mph) in the first session as BMW 328s swept the top-six positions.

Will Turner, of Newburyport, Mass., was second with a lap of 0:44.922 (88.152 mph) in the Turner Motorsport/H&R Springs BMW 328is, followed by Steve Pfeffer's John Hancock/JJ's Snacks BMW, Mike Fitzgerald's Pure Image/TCKlineRacing.com BMW and Don Salama's Turner Motorsport/H&R Springs BMW.

Practice resumes Saturday morning before the afternoon qualifying sessions.
