"We ran pretty decent here in June. We got lucky when the caution
came out
early because I had a vibration and was going to have to pit under green.
With the caution coming out when it did, we managed to have a real good
day."
- Ward Burton, driver of the Caterpillar
Racing Pontiac
BURTON ON MICHIGAN"We're real excited about getting back to Michigan. It's a track where we typically run well. We sat on the pole for this race last year and we feel like we can not only contend for the pole, but contend for the win."
BURTON ON WATKINS GLEN
"We needed to have a run like that. We had a great car and a great run, but we just couldn't capitalize on it. I think with us running that well, it gave the team a boost. We'll go to Michigan with the confidence of running well there too."
MISCELLANEOUS NOTES
Burton will compete with the car that he raced in The Winston at Lowe's Motor Speedway in May. It is the same chassis, but the team hung a brand new body on it for this race.
Burton will pull double duty this weekend. He'll drive the No. 22 Polaris Pontiac in Saturday's Busch Series race - the NAPAOnline.com 250 at noon on ESPN.
Beginning Monday, Jimmy Pennelin will join Bill Davis Racing as the car chief for the No. 22 Caterpillar Racing team. He replaces Doug Randolph, who took over crew chief duties for Dave Blaney and the No. 93 Amoco team.
