Danny Ebberts of Canyon Lake, Calif., 20th in last year's Western
MCI
WorldCom Midget Car standings, finds himself atop the new series points
going into this Saturday night's racing program at the Madera (Calif.)
Speedway.
A 30-lap feature is on tap at the 1/3-mile paved oval where his best finish in three starts has been seventh (twice.)
Bobby Boone of Palmdale, Calif. trails by just 33 points with 72 available at Madera. Wally Pankratz of Orange, Calif., who led the standings at the beginning of August, is 84 back of Ebberts in third.
Recent Western schedule changes have found the September 23 Sprint Car and Midget Car races at Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway removed from the calendar, as well as the September 17 Sprint Car event at Altamont Raceway Park in Tracy, Calif.
