CORR: Toyota victories aid in quest for championships

The consistent racing of Rod Millen (Pro-4) and Jeff Kincaid (Pro-Lite) have put both drivers in position to win their respective class championships this year. Millen, from Newport Beach, Calif., has won three of the last five races in his four-wheel-drive Toyota Tundra and sits third in overall points, 17 points from the top. Kincaid, of Crandon, Wis., and his Toyota Tacoma have dominated the Pro-Lite class most of the year with five wins in eight races. He is first overall, 11 points ahead of fellow Tacoma racer Chris Brandt. Brandt - victorious in his home state of Iowa at Ft. Dodge on July 29 - has also consistently battled for the lead this year with a win, three seconds and two thirds in eight races.

Johnny Greaves, of DePere, Wis., will be in search of his first victory of 2000 at Bark River since moving up to the Pro-2 class after winning three consecutive Pro-Lite championships. Racing a new two-wheel-drive Tundra, Greaves has had strong showings on the track, but odd mechanical gremlins have kept him from finishing on top. He was the dominant Pro-2 in finishing third overall in the Governor's Cup race at Crandon on June 25, which matched Pro-2 and Pro-4 trucks together. Greaves, who is the all-time CORR leader in career victories with 21 (Scott Taylor is second with 13), has a top finish of third at Crandon this year.

Jason DeGrave will be returning home to Bark River, Mich., to race this weekend in his Pro-Lite Toyota Tacoma. Currently sixth in points in the Pro-Lite class, DeGrave will be battling Kincaid and Brandt in his quest for his first career victory.

"I'm really looking forward to Bark River this weekend. We've made some recent chassis changes to the Tundra to improve traction and drivability. We tested at Crandon this week, which is similar to Bark River with fast turns and heavy dirt, and the truck was quick and had a lot more forward bite. The TRD-prepared V8 has been great this year; I'm looking forward to making all that power translate to the track."
