Long Pond, PA) - A winning entry in the "Win A New Home"
sweepstakes on the MichaelHoligan.com web site gave three lucky fans and
their guests the opportunity of a lifetime at the Pennsylvania 500 at
Pocono International Raceway.
Cindy Hinkle, Michael Burns and James Davis got to experience a NASCAR Winston Cup Series race up close and personal when their names were chosen from among thousands of entries. All three winners were visiting the web site for the first time.
Hinkle, is an attorney from Philadelphia who is a longtime NASCAR fan. She and her husband are planning to build a new home in the next few years and she turned to the MichaelHoligan.com web site after watching "Michael Holigan's Your New House" on television. Hinkle was in search of floor plans for their future home. An avid NASCAR fan, she naturally clicked on the NASCAR section of the web site and entered the home giveaway contest.
"I've been attending NASCAR races here in Pocono for a number of years," said Hinkle. "This is a great track. We buy tickets for both races every year. This is just the coolest thing to be in the pits!"
She brought along her mother who is a NASCAR fan-atic.
"My Mom is just out of control," she laughed. "She's never been this close to the drivers and the cars. She was ready to jump in and change one of the tires!"
Burns works at the Philadelphia Water Department and his visit to the picturesque 2.5-mile superspeedway in the Pocono Mountains was his first time at a NASCAR Winston Cup Series race.
Burns found himself on the MichaelHoligan.com web site after a call from his uncle had him searching for a unique type of water heater that was featured on "Michael Holigan's Your New House."
"My uncle watches the show religiously," said Burns. "Since I'm the only one in the family with Internet access, he called me and had me check for the heater on the Holigan web site.
"I've watched NASCAR on television and to be honest, I never really found it that exciting," said Burns. "But, my friends were always telling me how great it was. I've been to races before at a local dirt track, but this is just incredible. It's amazing to watch the guys in the pits work so fast and so accurately. I'll be talking about this to everyone at work!"
Davis is a postman and another longtime NASCAR fan from Philadelphia. He brought along a co-worker as his guest. They had both been to the track many times before, but never as close to the cars as they were on race day.
"I started watching the TV show about three months ago," said Davis. "I was checking out the web site when I saw the NASCAR link and clicked on it. Then I saw the contest information and figured I'd give it a shot. This is great!"
