Concord, N.C. - Cicci-Welliver Racing announced today they signed Billy Nacewicz, crew chief for the No. 36 Stanley Racing team, to a three-year contract.

Under the agreement, Nacewicz will continue as crew chief for the No. 36 team through the end of the 2003 season.

Although Stanley has announced it will discontinue its sponsorship of the No. 36 Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by Tim Fedewa at the end of this season, Cicci-Welliver is actively seeking a new sponsor for the No. 36 team. Team co-owner Frank Cicci has said he is committed to keeping the No. 36 team intact.

Nacewicz, 50, joined Cicci-Welliver and the Stanley racing team this past April. Since coming on board as the team's crew chief, the team has captured its first win and pole position at New Hampshire International Speedway in May. To date, the team also has two top fives and four top 10s under Nacewicz's leadership.

The win at New Hampshire was Cicci-Welliver's first trip to victory lane since 1998.

"Billy and I have known each other for a long time, and I've always respected his leadership ability," team co-owner Cicci said. "In the shop and at the track, he's all business and cool under pressure, which is a combination that's earned him the respect of everyone in our organization.

"Billy is extremely knowledgeable about every aspect of racing, and he has given his team the confidence and direction that they need to succeed in the Busch Series. He has really turned things around, and we appreciate that."

Nacewicz, a New York native, has had an extensive and successful career in racing that has spanned 26 years. He served as crew chief for modified driver Richie Evans during his run of eight national championships before moving south to work in the NASCAR Busch Series.

Nacewicz was also the car chief for driver Randy LaJoie's No. 74 team at Bace Motorsports that won the 1996 and 1997 Busch Grand National points championships.

"Billy has been a great asset for this team and Cicci-Welliver Racing," Cicci said. "We feel fortunate to be continuing our relationship."
