Tracks: Legend cars open practice nights set for Irwindale Speedway

Irwindale, Calif. - - Beginning on Tuesday, August 8, Irwindale Speedway will offer a series of special nights of open practice for all Legend Cars drivers, "They're one of our most popular 1/3-Mile divisions at Irwindale," said track Competition Director, Chris Morgan. "We hope to both encourage more participation and enhance the quality of the racing by offering these sessions."
The dates for these special sessions will be: August 8, September 5 & 26, October 3 & 24, and November 11. Those dates coincide with regularly scheduled Saturday night Legend Cars events at Irwindale Speedway and will give both drivers and their pit crews a great opportunity to sharpen up their driving and car set-up skills. The Tuesday night sessions are slated for 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and will cost $50 for each car entered and $10 for each crew person.
The Legend Cars division at Irwindale Speedway has been a growing one, "Our fans love them because they look great and the racing is so competitive," said Morgan. "Legend Cars give the average guy a chance to drive a real race car in competition at a track like Irwindale, and stay on a reasonable budget," Legend Cars are a "Spec Class", with very rigid rules and tight specifications aimed at keeping racing costs to a minimum and racing action on a fast boil.

And For those of you out there just itching to get behind the wheel of one of those neat little Legend Cars yourself Starting next Tuesday (August 8), anyone 16 or older, with $50 in their pocket will be able to take control of one of the 120-horsepower Legend Cars for 10 scintillating laps around the Irwindale 1/3-mile oval. Yes, you, your brother or sister-in-law, your best buddy, hey ANYONE who's always had a hankering for a true oval track driving experience tryout Here's your opportunity And at a real rock-bottom price.
Before each of the above open practice nights Legend Cars of California (909-949-2225), in conjunction with 600 Racing West in Las Vegas, and Irwindale Speedway, will be offering a series of Tuesday afternoon events at the Speedway featuring the above introductory drive program as well as full multi-lap-session driving school classes for advanced drivers from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Fans should be advised that the main grandstands will not be open for either of the above sessions, however, spectators are allowed into the pit grandstands (they must pay for a pit pass and be signed onto the regular pit entrance release). Adding to the atmosphere, the track's Pit Stop Snackbar will be open at 4:00 pm for business on all Legend Cars practice nights.
"We'll be able to offer a full range of Legend Cars experience from first-ever drive to helping the seasoned veterans improve their lap times around the Irwindale oval, its an unprecedented opportunity for us to reach fans and racers alike, we're very pumped about this series of events at the Speedway," Morgan concluded.
