WHAT: Pingel Thunder Nationals. The sixth of eight events in the 2000 AMA/Prostar Motorcycle Drag Racing Series.
WHEN: Friday-Sunday, August 11-13, 2000
WHERE: Indianapolis Raceway Park, The track is located five miles west of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on U.S. Highway 136.
SCHEDULE:
FRIDAY: Gates open at 11a.m. Qualifying for some classes begin at 1:00 a.m., professional classes qualify at 3:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
SATURDAY: Gates open at 7 a.m. Qualifying for some classes begin at 9:00 a.m., professional classes qualify at 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Some sportsman categories receive their first round of elimination's at 1:30 p.m.
SUNDAY: Gates open at 7:00 a.m. A non-denominational chapel service begins at 8:00 a.m.; sportsman categories enter elimination's at 9:00 a.m. Opening ceremonies and professional category elimination's begin at 11:00 a.m.
FEATURE: More than 500 racers in 13 categories. Featuring Top Fuel bikes, the quickest motorcycle class in the world with speeds exceeding 230 mph, 6-second, nitrous oxide powered, Pro Mods, turbocharged Funny Bikes, factory hot rod Pro Stocks, showroom stock street bikes, and several others in side-by-side racing. Also, manufacturers row features top vendors and manufacturers on display, and a special paved motorcycle parking area is also available.
1999 EVENT CHAMPIONS: Tony Lang (Top Fuel), Bryan Bennett (Funnybike), Bill Vose (Pro Modified), Fred Collis (Pro Stock), Rickey Gadson (Pro Superbike), Tom Miceli (Streetbike Shootout), Andy Baumbach (Top Gas), Bruce Sauer (Super Comp), Rob Schenz (Super Gas), Marty Ladwig (600 SuperSport), Doug Emge (Pro E.T.)
TICKETS: Adults $20 each day; $35 two-day; $40 three day, Juniors (2-12 years old) $5 each day, Children (under 2) are free with paid adult. AMA members and groups $15 per day with membership card and photo ID.
