"I think the Brickyard 400 is a race that everyone wants to win at
least
once. It's like the Daytona 500 - it's one of the most prestigious races
that we run. There is so much hype surrounding the race, you can't help
but
get excited about it."
- Ward Burton, driver of the Caterpillar
Racing PontiacBURTON ON INDIANAPOLIS
"We ran real well there last year. We ran in the top five all day, but ended up sixth. We had a good test and we are taking my favorite car back. It's the one that won at Darlington. We tested it and we were please with the results. We were the fifth or sixth fastest car, so we should be fairly competitive"
BALDWIN ON THE TEAMS SLIP IN POINT STANDINGS
"Although we slipped to seventh in the point standings, we are still way ahead of the goals we set at the beginning of the season. We wanted to finish the year seventh or higher in the final standings, have two wins and cut the points spread in half. We have been in the top five in points since we won at Darlington in March, we are only 290 points out of the lead and we wave won a race.
"In all honesty, I think we experienced success too quickly. For the amount of growth that Bill Davis Racing has incurred since the end of last year, I think we have done extremely well. We have a new team, we are switching to Dodge's in 2001 and we have been building a new shop. With all those things happening, we had to obviously hire new people so we've had that transition too. I believe we have a great team and a great organization - we still have a long way to go until Atlanta in November."
