Sky Sports has confirmed that it will broadcast extended,
one-hour reports from each round of next year's British Rally
Championship. These programmes will be in addition to the
30-minute reports confirmed by Channel 4 last week.
The news was welcomed by MSA Director of Major Events Jonathan Ashman: "This means that the British Rally Championship will enjoy more UK television coverage than ever before. The Sky programmes will offer extended television exposure, including more detailed coverage of the new British Super 1600 Championship (announced last week) and of the various classes and cups for amateur drivers."
Roger Moody, Commercial Development Manager of Sky Sports, said: "Sky Sports is delighted to be the associated with the British Rally Championship in 2001. It is not the first time the championship has featured on Sky Sports and once again television audiences will be able to see it first on Sky.
"The British Championship will be part of Sky's enormous commitment to motor sport, from the Indy 500, through national and international motor sport, to the ever-popular Wheelbase Club, an MSA initiative for the club enthusiast".
Andrew Williams, BHP Sport Rally Producer, said: "This extended programme gives BHP an unprecedented opportunity to give all seven rounds of the British Rally Championship the depth of coverage it deserves".
