ASA: ASA ACDelco Series Returns To Toledo Speedway

Glass City 300 marks first appearance since 1996
Pendleton, IN - After a four year absence from competing at Toledo Speedway, the ASA ACDelco Series will return to the .50-mile high-banked oval on Saturday, July 29 and Sunday, July 30 for the running of the Glass City 300 presented by Jani-King.
"Its great to have ASA back to Toledo Speedway," said Director of Operations Greg Riddle. "Were working extremely hard to get Toledo back to one of the best short tracks in the nation. The best way to accomplish this is to bring one of the premier short track series to the facility and its impressive to have TNN Sports in Toledo for a live event."
Home state competitors expected include the current ASA ACDelco Series points leader Gary St. Amant of Columbus, veteran Jack Landis of Edgerton, rookie sensation Robbie Pyle of Columbus, 1996 Busch Series rookie of the year Glenn Allen Jr. of Cincinnati, Kenny Phillips of Wakeman and Joe Nott of Lima.
"The key of running up front at Toledo is being able to keep the car on the bottom of the racetrack," says Philips. "The bump entering turn three will also be an adjustment for many of the competitors." Philips is competing in ASA on a limited basis in 2000 and plans on joining the 2001 Pat Schauer Memorial Rookie of the Year class.
The most recent ASA event at Toledo Speedway occurred in September of 1996. A total of 19 lead changes among 10 competitors existed in the event with Brad Loney of Iowa passing Dave Sensiba of Michigan on lap 398 after the duo raced door-to-door for 10 laps around the track.
Current ASA driver Scott Hansen sits atop the victory chart at Toledo with three wins, Mike Eddy of Michigan has two and Butch Miller of Michigan has rolled into victory lane once.
Tickets are available at the track or by calling 1-888-ASA-1020. Adult tickets are $20 and kids ages 12 and under are free. The Glass City 300 presented by Jani-King will be telecast live on TNN Sports at 3 p.m. (Eastern).
