- Team News: The entire Oakwood team has a tremendous amount of momentum going into the Pennsylvania 500. In addition to coming off their season best finish of 2nd at New Hampshire two weeks ago, the Oakwood Homes Chevrolet was the fastest car in GM testing at Indianapolis last week.
- Joe Nemechek and the rest of the Oakwood Homes Racing team are hoping that for better luck during the second Pocono race of 2000. At the June Pocono 500, an engine problem cost Nemechek several hundred laps and relegated the Oakwood Homes Chevy to a 42nd place finish. Despite the engine troubles during the race, the team was pleased with the car's performance, and they've brought the same car back for the Pennsylvania 500.
Joe Nemechek's Thoughts Going into the Pennsylvania 500:
"You've got to have power and a good handling car to get around this track. The corners are all so different. Your setup isn't going to work in all three, so you have to compromise. You can be good in (turn) one and bad in three, so you just have to compromise.
"I think overall our performance as the year goes has been very good on the racetrack. Our finishes haven't been there until just recently. We've been in some situations that I've helped get in, and you've got to finish up front in these races. That's the key, and I think we're on a roll right now."
