NASCAR BGN: Jeff Green hopes to continue 'high' sucess at Colorado

On The Points Battle: Heading into Pikes Peak International Raceway, Jeff Green, driver of the No. 10 Nestle NesQuik Chevrolet on the NASCAR Busch Series, has a record-setting 499-point lead over second-place and fellow teammate, Jason Keller, in the championship points battle.

"I'm not going to say we've got this thing locked up by any means," said Green. "We may even experience some bad luck before it is all over, but at this point, if we lose the championship, it will be of no one's fault but our own. I'm really excited that Jason Keller's team have moved into second, however, I really feel for Todd Bodine because they are a great team, but luck just hasn't been with them the past few weeks."

"The dream for ppc Racing, and I'm sure for any multi-car operation, is to have both teams finish one-two in the championship," said Green. "I know the success of my team is a reflection on Jason's team and vice versa. We have an open-book policy and myself, Jason, Harold (Holly, Green's crew chief) and Steve (Addington, Keller's crew chief) get together after every practice and talk about how to make both cars better. That communication is part of the reason for both teams' success. We truly have been blessed this year."

Jeff Green On Pikes Peak: Although Green has only one start at PPIR, he proved in last year's event he knows what it takes to be successful at the one-mile track.

"Pikes Peak International Raceway is an awesome place," said Green. "It has a fantastic garage area for the competitors and great grandstands for the fans. The track is really wide, so you can run your car pretty much anywhere on it. It has three or four grooves, which makes for a good race, because there is a lot of passing. Typically, the fastest car will win the race at a place like that."

Last Year At Pikes Peak: Green led the most laps during last year's NAPA Autocare 250, but was unable to capture the win.

"We had a three or four second lead with about 20 laps to go when the caution fell in last year's race," said Green. "But on the restart, we got into a beating and banging match and ended up fourth. Our car was better on long runs and the late race caution didn't help us out. Hopefully, we'll get them this year."

Career Wins: Green is currently third on the list of career wins with eight wins among the full-time, NBS regulars. In first is Randy Lajoie with 13 wins and Todd Bodine is second with 10 wins. Green hopes to win three to four more races before the season is over.

Equipment: The NesQuik Racing team is taking the same car to Pikes Peak that they won Richmond with earlier this year and at Nashville where it led the most laps of the event.
