NASCAR WCUP: NASCAR Testing Schedule at IMS Changed for Irwin Funeral Wednesday, July 12

The schedule for NASCAR Winston Cup Series General Motors manufacturer testing on Wednesday, July 12 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway has been adjusted in observance of funeral services for NASCAR Winston Cup driver Kenny Irwin Jr., an Indianapolis native who suffered fatal injuries in a practice crash Friday at New Hampshire International Speedway.

Practice is now scheduled to take place as follows:

  • 8-9:30 a.m.: Practice
  • 9:30 a.m.-noon: Track closed
  • Noon - 6 p.m.: Practice

The IMS Media Center for this test will be open to the media during practice hours.

Funeral services for Irwin will take place at 10 a.m. (EST) Wednesday at the Abundant Life Church, 7606 East 82nd St. in Indianapolis. Memorial contributions can be made in his name to Indianapolis Riley Hospital for Children, (317) 274-5000.

Any corresponding schedule adjustments for the Ford manufacturer NASCAR test July 17-18 will be provided when available.

WHAT: General Motors NASCAR manufacturer test schedule adjustment

WHEN: Wednesday testing has been rescheduled for 8-9:30 a.m. and noon-6 p.m.

Track will be closed from 9:30 a.m.-noon in observance of Irwin funeral.
