ARCA Trucks: David Clay out-classes Kil-Kare ARCA Trucks

Xenia, OH - What started out as a disastrous year for David Clay got a whole bunch better over the weekend.

Clay, in his own Carlisle Electric-Community National Bank Chevy S-10, out-classed a full field of ARCA Trucks Friday night at Kil-Kare Speedway to win the Kil-Kare ARCA 100.

Clay led all 100 laps from the outside pole to score his second career ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series triumph and first of the season. Troy Marciniak, in the A&A Manufacturing Chevy, raced across the final stripe in second ahead of defending ARCA Truck champion Bill Withers in the Mannings USA-Hall Electronics Ford in third. Erie, Michigan driver Chad Guinn, in the Sonic Expediting Ford, finished fourth in front of Johnny Witham's Fab Shop Ford to complete the top-five.

After engine troubles forced Clay to miss four races earlier this year, the Carlisle, Ohio driver has recently responded with a fourth place finish at Toledo backed up with a ninth at Flat Rock in addition to his victory at Kil-Kare.

In all, 10 trucks finished on the lead lap and all but four finished the race. Paul Hahn, in his first season on the tour, finished sixth in front of Jeff Wichmann, Bobby Marvin, Tully Esterline and Darren Jones to finish out the top-10. Jones, another rookie on the tour, won the Hoosier Tire Pole Award while veteran Withers, who started ninth, won the Ed & Company Hard Charger Award for advancing the most positions. Clay also walked off with the Cloyes Gear Halfway Leader honors as well as the RJS Safety Belt Award. Guinn won the Hawk Best Brake of the Race Award.

Next events for the ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series will be Saturday, July 15 at Lorain County Speedway for its first-ever visit to the one-third mile paved oval before the ultra-versatile series heads west to LaSalle Speedway for a romp on the quarter-mile clay oval Saturday night, August 5.
