Toledo OH--What started out as a perfect night for Robbin
Slaughter ended that way with a convincing victory in the 50-lap ARCA
Lincoln Welders Truck Series main event Friday night at Toledo Speedway.
Slaughter, in his own Carmens Vacuum Sales-NAPA Auto Parts Ford Ranger, raced from the seventh starting position and grabbed the lead away from Michael Carter Jr with 14 laps remaining to win his second consecutive ARCA Truck feature event and third of his career. Carter held on for second recording his career-best ARCA finish ahead of Chad Guinn in the Sonic Expediting Ford in third. David Clay finished fourth in the Carlisle Electric-Community Natl Bank Chevy with Joseph Wormcastle in the Witwer Racing-Votaw Electric Chevy completing the top-five.
Slaughter, of Columbus, Ohio, started strong with the Hoosier Tire Quick Time Award but through the inversion had to hustle from the fourth row to claim the hard-fought victory. Winamac, Indiana driver Todd Braun, from the pole, led the first 13 laps before Carter took charge for 23 circuits. Carter held tough leading the most laps led but couldnt fend off Slaughter long enough to go to victory lane.
In all, 14 trucks finished on the lead lap as fans were treated to close green flag racing with no cautions. Johnny Witham finished sixth in the Pate Manufacturing-Fab Shop Ford in front of Troy Marciniaks A&A Manufacturing Chevy in seventh. Braun brought his Ford Ranger home in eighth ahead of Dave Reeb in the Accurate Logistics Ford in ninth and Tully Esterline in the Spangler Candy Chevy in 10th.
Slaughter also won the Revenge Pole-Win Award while Carter took home the Cloyes Gear Halfway Leader honors. Wormcastle won the Ed & Company Hard Charger Award for advancing the most positions from 13th to fifth.
