Frank Dancs of Hillsborough, Calif. led all 24 laps of Saturday's Russell/USAC Triple Crown Pro Series opener at Sears Point Raceway in Sonoma, Calif. The 1999 Formula Russell Championship runner-up thereby assumes the early point lead in the series which resumes with round two on July 23, also at Sears Point.

Dancs won the pole Friday with a lap of 1:13.75 on the 1.95-mile road course. Adding the "Pole to Checkered Award" brought his winnings to $4,300 as he and his Buyacom Computer Corporation machine finished 4.668 seconds ahead of runner-up Camilo Zurcher of Bogota, Columbia. Timothy barber of San Francisco, Calif. was third, ahead of 1999 Formula Russell Champion Nathan Smith of Escalon, Calif. and Cory Turner of Bakersfield, Calif.

Zurcher came from 10th starting position to take second with some great driving.
