BLOOMINGTON, IN- Bloomington Speedway will celebrate the
Fourth of July a little early this year. The evening's ceremonies will
include a 21 gun salute; Roy Ritter will offer a Veterans' Prayer; and
Greg
Heston will play the Star Spangled Banner and Taps on the trumpet. And,
members of veterans' organizations are invited to join Bloomington
Speedway
in celebrating the freedom that they helped us to keep. Any member of the
American Legion, AMVETS, or VFW will be admitted for half price by simply
presenting their current dues card or life member card. The fireworks on the famous red clay will outshine any pyrotechnic display anywhere. The night's racing will feature AMSA winged mini sprints, the Tire & Wheel Center Super Stocks, and O'Neal Wood Products Modifieds. The AMSA mini sprints always turn out in large numbers when they have the opportunity to compete at Bloomington Speedway; and they will certainly pull out all of the stops to chalk up a win at Bloomington on their racing resumes.
The Tire & Wheel Center Super Stocks have been showing up in force all season; and, as the points continue to add up, they can all be expected to show up to defend their position in the points race. Lee Hobbs has the lead currently; but Greg Kendall, Steven Hunt, and a host of other hot shoes are intent on toppling him from the top of the standings. Of course, Hobbs plans to stay right where he is.
The O'Neal Wood Products Open Wheel Modifieds are, if anything, even more competitive. Lee Hobbs leads the points chase there too; but the cars are so even that just about any car has a chance of winning. And, those at the top of the points battle are just about even. This situation makes side by side finishes rather commonplace. Also, visiting hot shoes such as Kerry Norris often show up to put even more pressure on the points leaders.
As a special treat to the fans on hand, Bloomington Speedway and Bloomington Powersports will present a gigantic the 15th Annual Ariel Fireworks Display. While it will be hard for this display to compete with the "on track competition", it will be one of the most spectacular displays ever presented at Bloomington Speedway.
Grandstand admission for this event is only $10 and pit admission is $20. Pit gates open at 3:00, grandstands open at 4:30. Overnight camping is permitted.
