Finishing position - 9th

Robby Gordon earned his first top-10 of the 2000 season with a ninth-place finish in Sunday's Save-Mart/Kragen 350 from Sears Point Raceway in Sonoma, California. Gordon led five laps (laps 39-43) and ran in the top-five for the majority of the day before a drop in fuel pressure on lap 98 forced Gordon to pit. Worried the car was close to being out of fuel, Gordon was told to pit. At the time, it was figured that the rest of the field would at least have to stop for a splash of fuel allowing Gordon to make up the time and positions at the end. But the field didn't pit and Gordon was relegated to 9th place. In the race's last 12 laps, Gordon was the fastest car on the track gaining 10 spots in the race's last 12 laps.

Quotes:

ROBBY GORDON "The car was so smooth all day, we were a little tight, but for the most part that was a great handling car, the crew did an excellent job, they're really picking up the game on pitstops. We even led some laps, but more importantly I think everyone here had fun - including me. "What happened in the end with fuel, I'm not so sure. But I assure you we're going to find out when we get back to the shop. All in all though, we realistically came here and shot for a top-10, which we got. When we came in for fuel we were 5th and ended up 9th. Those last 15 laps or so I just let it fly. Fresh tires gained us a ton and I kept picking people off. We came through the race without damage, so we can take the car to the wind tunnel and find out where it can be made better for Watkins Glen. If we can keep putting puzzle pieces together like this we'll just get stronger"

On running through the dirt early when Rusty and Bodine got together:

"Plain and simple it was an opportunity to pick up five spots! Honestly, I didn't think twice about going to the dirt to avoid that mess, that's just the off-road racer in me."
