NASCAR WCUP: Ken Schrader Notes and Quotes, Pocono

15 June 2000

Ken Schrader Said...

"Pocono is different...that's for sure. Racing at Pocono is like seconds of boredom interrupted by a few moments of terror. Every corner at that track is different and you have to adjust and drive each one of them accordingly. It's a pretty tricky and challenging track to drive, but we usually do very well there in qualifying. I think with this team's performance record at Pocono and my qualifying history here, we should be O.K."

Ken Schrader's Stats...

* The "M&M's" Racing Team has enjoyed a great deal of success at Pocono Raceway as of late. Since the fall of 1998, the "M&M's" Racing Team has finished within the top 11. In July of 1998 the No. 36 Pontiac finished eighth, then followed that up in June of 1999 with a ninth-place finish. Their latest outing at Pocono Raceway resulted in an 11th-place finish in July of 1999.

* "M&M's" Racing Team driver Kenny Schrader is somewhat of a qualifying expert at Pocono Raceway. With a total of five pole positions in 30 starts at the Pocono track, Schrader leads all Winston Cup drivers in total number of pole positions won (5) at the 2.5-mile, triangular track.

* Pocono Raceway is somewhat of a home track for primary sponsor "M&M's" Chocolate Candies. The colorful chocolate pieces are produced in nearby Hackettstown, N.J., also home to the national headquarters for M&M/Mars, Inc. Hackettstown is about an hour drive from the Poconos.

Driver Ken Schrader and crew chief Sammy Johns are slated to visit Hackettstown on Thursday, June 15, to sign autographs for M&M/Mars, Inc. employees.
