Ken Schrader Said... "I like Michigan, but we haven't run as well there as we would like. We hope our luck changes this weekend. The team qualified on the outside pole for this race last year so naturally we'd like to do at least that good or better. We're taking our Charlotte car and we've got the new piece on the rear bumper, so we're anxious to see how the rules change plays out for us. We were better than we showed in the 600 with this car. We were real strong in practice, we just got caught up in an early tangle that messed up the car's handling and our night never really got any better."
Ken Schrader's Stats...
* The "M&M's" Racing Team had a strong performance at Michigan Speedway in June of 1999. The team captured the outside pole position, bettering the track record before loosing the top starting position to Jeff Gordon just a few cars later. The team continued on a strong weekend by finishing seventh in the 400-mile event, one of five top-10 finishes for the team in 1999.
* The "M&M's" Racing Team won the pole position at Michigan Speedway in the fall of 1998. Driver Ken Schrader started from the top position in the fall of 1993.
* "M&M's" Racing Team driver Ken Schrader got a shot in the arm for qualifying at this race in 1999...a jolt the team hopes happens again in 2000. With a fourth-place starting position at Michigan, Schrader continued on to qualify in the top 10 in five of the next six races.
* The familiar "M&M's" Pontiac will sport a different paint scheme at Michigan Speedway this weekend. Pedigree Brand Food for Dogs will be the primary sponsor of the No. 36 Pontiac in support of their national crusade to aid homeless pets. M&M/Mars, the manufacturer of "M&M's" Chocolate Candies, is a sister company to Kal Kan Foods, Inc., manufacturer of Pedigree Brand for Dogs.
