WYNN'S PRESENTS ROUND 3 OF THE MILLER LITE "BIG 10" CHALLENGE:THE FOOD 4 LESS NASCAR SUPER LATE MODELS SERIES GETS HOT!
JUNE 10 RACES AT IRWINDALE SPEEDWAY WILL ALSO FEATURE:
GRAND AM MODIFIEDS, ULTRA WHEEL SPEC TRUCKS & LEGENDS CARS!
Irwindale, Calif. - - Saturday night, June 10 will be one of the great "family value nights" of the 2000 racing season as Irwindale Speedway presents not one but two NASCAR Late Model main events. Add to that main events for the fiery NASCAR Grand Am Modifieds, the exciting Ultra Wheel Spec Trucks, and the colorfully-quick Legends Cars, and you've got a full night of great racing entertainment.
Goleta's Greg Voigt will lead the Food 4 Less Super Late Models into battle at Irwindale Speedway carrying an 80-point lead and his perfect "top 5 finish every race this season" string. The quiet young fellow from just North of Santa Barbara has really let his right foot do his talking for him in the 2000 season. Getting the handling down to a fine science and (for the most part) staying out of on-track troubles that lead to low or no points being scored, have been Greg's "secrets" for his team's top showing this season. "More of the same, only more." Is what he expects to pour on in this one.
Just 80 points behind Voigt's rear bumper is young Ben Walker from North Hills. Walker suffered a points setback two weeks ago when his car was found to have "non-conforming parts" and he lost 50 hard-won first place points (to say nothing of the $2,250.00 prize money!). Determined to show that his driving was the real reason for that tainted win, Walker took home a first place and a third place in F4L-SLM Twin 50 races on his last visit to Irwindale (May 27).
Coming on strong right behind Voigt and Walker are David Brandon (274 points), Dan Holtz (256), and Tim Woods III (246). With 50 precious points up for grabs on Saturday night and 25 other guys all looking to catch (and pass) these guys, "Round 3" should be a super show!
Also on the agenda for Saturday Night is the Annual Fireman's Burn Relay 2000 Finals featuring teams of firefighters from all over the southern California area with proceeds benefiting the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation. (818) 249-2230.
As always, gates open at 4:00 pm with the track's traditional live band a-playing and the free car club car show a-showing hot shiny cars. Fans can get a preview of the night's action by watching qualifying and maybe win a cool prize by playing NASCAR Trivia with Pat Patterson in the grandstands, or get an autograph from one of the top track drivers at the Alta Dena Milk Chugs Autograph Session right in the grandstands. Pre-race ceremonies are at 6:30 and the Star Spangled Banner is in the air at 7:00. After that it's over 200 laps of action-packed family entertainment at "LA's -Mile Super Speedway!"
