- Juan Montoya won his third pole position of the season and Toyota's fourth in the last seven races. The pole position gives Montoya his fifth front row starting position in six races. He has started in the top three in every race this season.

- With Montoya taking the pole today, it marks the seventh straight race that a Toyota has qualified on the front row - the longest current streak for any CART engine manufacturer. During those seven races, Toyota has earned four pole positions and three second-fast qualifier spots.
