NOTES OF INTEREST: The FLAGSTAR 200 will be the 16th ARCA race held at Michigan Speedway since the series first raced there in 1980. Jeff Purvis continues to be the all-time ARCA winner at Michigan having won in 1993, '94 and '95. Tim Steele is next in line with 2 wins ('96 & '97). Additional ARCA winners at Michigan Speedway include Joe Ruttman (1980), Billie Harvey (1980), Tracy Leslie (1990), Dave Mader (1991), Stanley Smith (1991), Bob Keselowski (1992), Ron Barfield (1996), Mark Thompson (1997), Frank Kimmel (1998) and David Keith (1999). Keith joins Ruttman as the only driver who has won from the pole at Michigan. The FLAGSTAR 200 marks the return of 3-time ARCA champion Steele to Michigan Speedway. His last appearance here was 7-26-97. Veteran Bob Strait leads the points. However, the 15-time ARCA winner has led only 1 lap in 2000 whereas runner-up Brian Ross and third in points Kimmel have led the most laps in 2000: Ross 279 and Kimmel 440. After 6 events in 2000, there have been 5 different winners: Keith at Daytona, Leslie at Salem, Mark Gibson at Anderson, Lyndon Amick at Lowes and Kimmel back-to-back at Kil-Kare and Flat Rock. 3 former ARCA champions are entered: Leslie 88; Steele 93, 96 & 97 and Kimmel 98.
