Ryan Newman and Tony Elliott captured Stoops Freightliner Sprint Car feature events May 24 and 28 respectively and Elliott emerged as the new series point leader as a result.

Newman, of South Bend, Ind., led the final nine laps of Wednesday night's "Keebler/Cheez-It 50" at the Anderson (Ind.) Speedway, while Elliott, of Kokomo, Ind., led all but the first eight laps of Sunday night's 30-lapper at the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. Elliott, who was 12th at Anderson, leads J.J. Yeley by 25 points going into the June 10 "Spring Sprint Special" at Indianapolis Raceway Park.

Newman wheeled the Johnny Vance Racing Team's Aristocrat Products/Wynn's Special to victory at Anderson, beating Kasey Kahne, Dave Steele, Eric Gordon and Yeley to the checkered flag. Elliott led the first 15 laps of the Anderson race, then Hines led the next 26 before a late-race tangle with Kahne sent him into the infield. He recovered to finish ninth.

Elliott passed Danny Smith on the ninth lap of Sunday night's Eldora feature and led the rest of the way to beat Smith, Kahne, Yeley and Brian Tyler. Elliott drove the WorldBestBuy.com/Hoosier Tire/Jam It In Storage Special. Three drivers flipped during the third heat race but Derek Davidson, Jonathan Vennard and Nick Naber all escaped injury.

Turbines, Inc. fast qualifiers were Dave Steele at Anderson and Brandon Petty at Eldora. Tracy Hines and Kevin Thomas won the True Value "last chance" semis.
