LAKEVILLE, Conn.Terry Borcheller, of Phoenix, Ariz., came to Lime Rock Park without a Speedvision World Challenge GT Championship ride, and left with a win, topping Bobby Archer, of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Reese Cox, of Marietta, Ga., in the Dodge Dealers Grand Prix.

Borcheller, who started second in the No. 52 AASCO Saleen SR, took the lead from Peter Cunningham on a wild lap-24 restart and never looked back, recording a 0.555-second victory, averaging 70.423 mph.

Borcheller filled in for regular driver Jorge Trejos, who was unable to attend due to traveling difficulties. The win came in his first World Challenge race, and eighth career, since winning the 1998 Championship.

"AASCO Performance put together a great car for me," said Borcheller. "It was for me in 1998, but there's a lot of really good teams here now. It's great to come in here and give the team a win.

"I've always been fast at Lime Rock Park, but have never finished well. So for me, it's great to get the win."

Archer, who started fifth in the No. 32 IQuest/Viper Speed Dodge Viper GTS, moved into second as Borcheller took the lead, but could not make up the difference to finish second. Archer did move into second in points (62) behind Peter Cunningham's 70.

Cox, driving the No. 98 MTI Racing Corvette C5, moved up from 11th on the grid to finished third, earning the Borla Performance Award for the drive of the day. Cunningham, of W. Bend, Wis., finished fourth, followed by polesitter Michael Galati, of N. Olmstead, Ohio.

Bill Cooper, of Bozeman, Mt., lost the point lead when his No. 01 Les Stanford/Pirate Racing Corvette C5 went hard into the tire wall on lap 28 after a tap from Galati. He was not injured.
