INDIANAPOLIS- Paul Burgess, chief designer for the Indy Racing G Force GF05 chassis, was presented with the 34th Louis Schwitzer Award today for engineering excellence in design and development.

Burgess earned a $5,000 cash prize for winning the award, named after dynamic automotive pioneer Louis Schwitzer. The Indiana Section, Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) has presented the award annually since 1967. BorgWarner sponsors the award.

Its a great honor to win this award, Burgess said. We have a small team, which makes it even more rewarding.

The G Force GF05 chassis, new this Indy Racing Northern Light Series season, offers increased safety and performance enhancements. The design improved the aerodynamic performance of the car by reducing drag and increasing downforce.

Burgess heads the seven-member G Force GF05 design staff. Burgess, a native of Kenley, Surrey, England, has worked for G Force since 1996. His prior experience includes work with the Tyrrell and Lotus teams in Formula One and other design work with F3000 and sports car organizations.

G Force manufactures cars for the Indy Racing Northern Light Series, the Japanese F3000 series and has worked on Panoz sports cars and the Nissan entry at the Le Mans 24 Hours.
