INDIANAPOLIS - Sixteen-year-old country music sensation Jessica Andrews will sing the national anthem before the start of the 84th Indianapolis 500 on May 28, Indianapolis Motor Speedway officials announced today.
Andrews was named the Top New Female Vocalist of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards on May 3.
The DreamWorks Records Nashville label released her debut album, Heart Shaped World, in March 1999. The album includes the hit song, Unbreakable Heart, as well as I Will Be There For You. Her second album is due in 2001.
Andrews, a native of Huntingdon, Tenn., has performed at concerts since she won a talent show in the fourth grade.
She has opened for country superstars such as Faith Hill and Trisha Yearwood, and performed I Will Be There For You on DreamWorks Prince of Egypt soundtrack.
