INDIANAPOLIS-- General Motors is presenting the all-new, interactive GM Experience at Indy display at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in conjunction with the 84th Indianapolis 500.

The GM Experience at Indy, located next to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum, opened at noon May 24, and will be open daily through Race Day, May 28. Building on the success of the GM Experience at the 2000 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the GM Experience at Indy will showcase products and services from various GM divisions, with Oldsmobile as the featured marque.

The Indianapolis 500 is the premier racing event of the season, said Glenn Tayler, Oldsmobile Motorsport marketing manager, which makes it the perfect place to kick off this program. The GM Experience is a great way to introduce fans to the diversity of products and services offered by General Motors in a fun, interactive environment.

Said Bob Reif, Indianapolis Motor Speedway senior vice president of sales and marketing and chief marketing officer, We are very excited to be working with General Motors on an event that celebrates everything that makes racing great - the cars, the people, the history and most important, the fans.

As the featured division of the GM Experience at Indy, Oldsmobile will have a strong presence at the event. In addition to production vehicle displays, Oldsmobile will display the OSV (Oldsmobile Specialty Vehicles) concept cars, featuring the OSV Alero coupe, OSV Intrigue sedan and the OSV Silhouette Premiere minivan.

In association with Oldsmobile, Oxygen, the network cable channel for women, will bring its National Tank Tour to Indianapolis. Oxygens Tank Tour gives women around the U.S. an opportunity to voice their opinions on issues that are important to them.

Along with its new campaign, OnStars display will feature the Batmobile, along with an Oldsmobile Silhouette with an OnStar demo. Fans will have an opportunity to get an online E-Shot with the Batmobile or an Indy Racing Northern Light Series race car. These online photographs are available at special Internet portals at the GM Experience at Indy or can be downloaded on any personal computer.

A large portion of the GM Experience at Indy will be dedicated to GMs racing efforts, including a variety of GM racing cars, engines and performance parts.

Potential vehicle buyers can access the complete GM product line at the GM Experience at Indy through the GM Buy Power Internet kiosks. GM Buy Power is the first, largest and most comprehensive manufacturers automotive e-commerce site with more than 6,000 participating dealers and 500,000 new GM vehicles available online.

GM Powertrain, the worlds largest automotive supplier, will display several engines and vehicles, including Larry Raglands 1999 Baja 1000-winning Chevy Silverado truck.

Expect new additions to the GM Experience at Indy at future Indianapolis Motor Speedway events.

Oldsmobile supplies the engines used by the majority of teams in the Indy Racing Northern Light Series. As the Official Pace Car of the 84th Indianapolis 500, the 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora will lead the starting grid to the green flag May 28 with E.R. star Anthony Edwards behind the wheel.
