TONY STEWART, NO. 20 HOME DEPOT PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:
"I think the track was a little bit quicker than what I planned for. We probably left a little bit out there. We didn't leave a lot though. I'm looking up at the board there and we're in some pretty good company up there. Hopefully we can stay in the top 10 or 15 and have a good spot for Sunday.
"I think in all reality the overcast skies and the fact that it (qualifying) got delayed a little bit because of the weather probably helped us. It made it a little more even for everybody because the track wasn't going to keep continuing to cool off. The clouds came pretty early and cooled the track off and probably just made it fair for everybody."
BOBBY LABONTE, NO. 18 INTERSTATE BATTERIES PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:
"It really has been (a struggle), so we're just happy with that really. We picked up a lot; a lot more than I thought we'd pick up. It was definitely a little better than we thought. So that's good for us. The team worked really hard after struggling last weekend.
(IS THERE SOME MYSTERY IN HOW YOUR CAR WILL HANDLE IN QUALIFYING A FEW HOURS AFTER PRACTICE?) "A little bit because it's a deal where you've got a lot more grip tonight than you do during the day. So, how hard can you go? Your car is probably going to change a little bit from today than it was tonight, and you've got to anticipate that."
WARD BURTON, NO. 22 CATERPILLAR PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:
"It's handling good. I just don't know where the speed is. But it's OK. We'll be good on Sunday."
JOHN ANDRETTI, NO. 43 STP/CHEERIOS PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:
"Overall we fought a tight condition all day up off the corner and then we fought loose in qualifying because we just didn't want to be tight, so we freed the car up a bunch. Greg (Steadman) did a great job - made all the right calls. But with the tire the way it is, and with not bringing the same car back (from The Winston), and a lot of other things...I got a whole darn list of excuses, but none of them are going to change where we start."
RICK MAST, NO. 14 CONSECO PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:
"We don't know right now. We don't know if we lost a piston or exactly what happened. The car just didn't respond. It didn't accelerate like it had been doing all day. Our corner speeds were excellent, the best corner speeds we had all day. I thought we had a shot at it. I don't know if we messed something up the last time we went out today or what we did. We did something, but I don't know what yet."
