Nashville, TN A persistent rain shower in Middle Tennessee, beginning in mid-afternoon and continuing into the evening, forced the cancellation of qualifying for Sundays ASA ACDelco Series BFGoodrich Tires 300.

Both rounds of ASA fastest lap qualifying and a 100-lap qualifying race, along with Nashville Speedway Late Model stocks and Trucks, were cancelled.

ASA ACDelco Series officials announced the starting field for the BFGoodrich Tires 300 would be expanded from 32 starters to 40 using the current 2000 season owners points. That decision was intended to allow as many of the 54 teams that entered for the race to compete as possible.

Gary St. Amant of Columbus, Ohio, the current ASA ACDelco Series points leader will start from the pole. It is St. Amants first pole of the season, the 21st of his career. Brandon Sperling of California will start on the outside of row one.

The BFGoodrich Tires 300 activities begin with gates opening at 10 a.m. The ASA on-track autograph session begins at noon with pre-race activities starting at 1:15 p.m. The green flag drops on the BFGoodrich Tires 300 at 2 p.m. with the Nashville Twin 50s , the Auto Value/Parts City Late Models and Kroger SuperTrucks, to follow. Tickets are $20 for adults, children 12 and under free.
