INDY 500: First Session Morning Practice Speeds, Indy Pole Day

INDIANAPOLIS: Early morning practice began on shedule at 8 a.m. Saturday morning under overcast skies and chilly temperatures.
There are two practice sessions scheduled prior to qualifying. The second group is expected to run from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. There will be opening ceremonies until 11:00 a.m. Qualifying for the 84th Indy 500 begins at 11:00 and runs until 6:00 p.m.
The final day of qualifying is Sunday, May 21. Only the fastest 33 drivers will start the 2000 Indianapolis 500. The green flag waves for the "Greatest Spectacle in Racing" at 11:00 a.m. local time next Sunday.
