Ken Schrader Said...
"We want to win The Winston Open so we can make it to The Winston and go for the big money. Most of all we want to learn a lot about the car so we can be that much further ahead when we run the 600 next weekend. We tested at Charlotte the Monday and Tuesday nights after Richmond and we were really pleased with how we did. We were also pleased with our run in Richmond. I know this "M&M's" Team has what it takes to win races and Richmond showed that we are finally starting to put all of the pieces of the puzzle together."
Ken Schrader's Stats...
* The "M&M's" Pontiac has a special look for its 12 days at Lowe's Motor Speedway this week and next. The team traded in its familiar yellow paint scheme to pay tribute to NASCAR racing's most sassy female...the Green "M" Character. The car, which will run in both The Winston Open and the Coca-Cola 600, will be metallic green with gold numbers with Green displayed on the car in different poses.
* The May 20th event will mark Schrader's 10th start in the Winston Open since the race's inception. He has also made seven starts in The Winston, three after transferring up from The Winston Open. Schrader has had a pretty impressive record in The Winston Open, finishing in the top 10 on seven occasions including five top fives.
* Schrader's last run in The Winston was in 1995, but he is anxious to race his way back into the all-star event this weekend. When Schrader competed in The Winston from 1989-1995, he was a contender to win each time, finishing outside the top five only once. In his first three outings in the all-star event he finished second, then followed that up with two third-place finishes and a fourth.
